A CATALYST FOR REFORM
OUR APPROACH TO CSR
As a healthcare company – helping others is part of our DNA. It’s who we are and what we do and we are committed to being an instrument of social change. It’s a privilege to develop the communities in which we operate and we are proud to be building a more robust South Africa through our CSR programmes. We believe in long-term strategic alliances and supporting sustainable projects that are well structured and geared for meaningful reach and effect. To magnify our impact we have selected four areas where we believe we can make the most impact: education & training, capacity building, socio-economic development and health care.
Through these initiatives, we are helping close the need gap in a society plagued with unmet needs.

UNLOCKING KNOWLEDGE. OPENING DOORS
EDUCATION & TRAINING
As one of the first BEE healthcare companies in South Africa, we remain committed to transforming the face of the healthcare industry and our Bursary, Learnership and Graduate Internship programmes are at the heart of our process. Although our bursaries are typically an investment in employee learning and development, we also award external bursaries. By and large, the beneficiaries are from the communities in which we operate. The ideals of this programme are pragmatic and relevant and serve to equip young South Africans with the skills they need. Skills and experience that builds economic independence. Through our skills transfer programmes, we hope to unlock opportunities; developing employable young adults and entrepreneurs with unlimited futures.
FLEXING OUR PHILANTHROPIC MUSCLE
OUR CSR PARTNERS & PROJECTS

TRANSFORMING EDUCATION DIGITALLY
NOVOSENSE
We believe technology has the power to open up new possibilities in education and therefore partnered with black-owned tech development company, Novosense, to help fund a virtual learning project. Our ESD contributions were used for the development of a virtual learning space for children from disadvantaged schools near Soweto. Prototypes of a virtual workshop for students studying Motor Mechanics, a virtual theater for Biology students, and a virtual laboratory for Chemistry students were all developed and are being used to raise funds for the development of virtual support environments – aligned to government school curriculums for Grade 7 and 10.

LEAVING A LEGACY OF HOPE AND GOOD HEALTH
UNJANI CLINICS
Providing an affordable alternative to primary healthcare services in under-served markets throughout South Africa. That’s the purpose of the Unjani Clinics. A sustainable non-profit initiative – the clinics strengthen health systems in low-income communities by empowering nurses to own and operate their own clinic within their community. Our products save lives and with clinics based in the communities in which we operate, we provide and support them with stock contributions, ensuring that their invaluable service is delivered at the point of need. From IV trays to Surgeon’s gloves, X-Ray sterile MTO and more – our donations are helping the Unjani Clinics provide fundamental lifesaving care.

SHAPING FUTURES THROUGH LEARNING
MOLEFE LEARNING AND CONSULTING
Education is the key to everything – it opens doors and unlocks potential. Recognising this, and that it helps elevate the social and economic circumstances of the marginalised within our society, we chose to work with black-owned training company Molefe Learning and Consulting. With most nursery centers in townships run by unqualified persons– there’s an urgent need for early childhood development practitioner training. We funded an enterprise development initiative that enabled Molefe Learning to develop the training materials needed to become an accredited Early Childhood Development Training organisation.
